...Red fruit is a kind of traditional fruit from Papua, Indonesia. By society of Wamena, Papua, this fruit is called kuansu. Pandanus conoideus Lam is the scientific name for Red fruit, this crops is categorized as pandan family with trees resembling to pandan tree, but red fruit tree can grow very tall up to 16 meters high, and the branches can reach 5-8 m that is supported by tunjang roots on the stem at down side.The cultivator fruit is oval-shaped and very red color. The fruit size reaches 55 cm long, 10-15 cm diameter, and weighs 2-3 kg. The color is bright maroon red when ripe, although there are actually a kind of red species with different color which are brown and yellowish brown color.
The research for the efficiency of red fruit had done for the first time by Dr. I made Budi, MS. from University Jayapura who is lecturer and nutrition expert. He referred to the habit (tradition) of Wamena people who always consume red fruit in many occasions for health purpose.
The observations on the local Wamena people, Timika, proven that they always have good stamina and less health problem while they live in the limited condition in the open nature (jungle) that often very cold, without clothes, hard activities and hard situation.
Physically feature of Wamena population is rarely attacked by degenerative diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases and cancer.
By examining the content of the nutritional composition, discovered that in the red fruit extract juice is contains oh high antioxidants (average content):
Karoten (12.000 ppm)
Betakaroten (700 ppm)
Tokoferol (11.000 ppm)
And also several other substances that increase endurance, are: oleic acid, linolenic acid, dekanoat, Omega 3 and Omega 9 which are all active compounds antidote to the formation of free radicals in the body.
The increase in natural cells that suppress the presence of cancer cells as potent free radical compounds neutralize cancer-causing carcinogens.
In some limited research conducted by Dr. I Made Budi, direct treatment methods with Red Fruit, researchers revealed a very high success in treatment efforts carried out against several diseases.
